Abstract:
The session will introduce the core chemistry, physics, and hazards of combustion in fired equipment, emphasizing stoichiometry, air–fuel ratio control, and flammability limits. It highlights major operational risks—including fuel rich combustion, flame loss, tube rupture, and draft failures—and explains how these conditions can lead to unstable combustion or explosions. The presentation concludes with essential protection principles for safe operation, covering burner management, fuel isolation, purging, flame supervision, and product heating safeguards
